Remote Clinic in Andefuka Village to Reopen Soon

Andefuka Village in East Sepik Province will soon have a new health worker stationed at their local clinic, bringing much-needed medical services back to the community.

The Sepik Mission S.D.A Health Services visited the remote village on April 4th, 2024, to assess the situation after the previous clinic, built by the government and handed over to the church for management, had been closed due to lack of staff.

The health needs of the community have been a growing concern, prompting the local level government (LLG) president, Mr. Raymond Pam, to work on building a new clinic facility. The Sepik Mission S.D.A Health Services has been collaborating with Mr. Pam to get the clinic operational again.

During their visit, the health team met with the community and heard their struggles in dealing with limited medical attention. An agreement was reached to appoint a new health worker to be stationed at the clinic within the next few months.

"We are committed to serving the community," stated the Health Director of Sepik Mission, Mr. Daiven Watio. In response, a community representative pledged their support by confirming that a new staff house would be built for the incoming health worker.

"Our aim is to improve people's lives," said the Health Promotion Officer of Sepik Mission, Mr. Ibbis Malaitom. "This will not only provide much-needed healthcare but will also pave the way for the gospel commission," he further explained.

The reopening of the clinic in Andefuka Village signifies a positive collaboration between the church health services and the local government, aiming to address the healthcare needs of the community.
