Tok Pisin Bible Study Lessons Set for Final Review in Sepik Mission

26 Mar 2025

Wewak, East Sepik Province –The Sepik Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has launched a significant initiative, rolling out Tok Pisin Bible study lessons for final review before mass distribution across the mission.

Spearheaded by Pastor Michael Lus, the project aims to provide newly converted church members and those with limited literacy an accessible way to deepen their faith.

The study guide, titled 28 As Bilip, is a Tok Pisin translation of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Originally developed by Mr. Jack Sample, a volunteer missionary with Last Frontier PNG, for the Tipas community in Sandaun Province, the resource has now been adapted for the Sepik Mission. Pastor Lus expressed gratitude to Mr. Sample for granting permission to publish and distribute the lessons within the mission.

“We are very grateful to Mr. Jack Sample for giving us the rights to distribute this vital resource,” Pastor Lus said. “It will greatly support our members, especially those who struggle with literacy.”

This morning, the mission distributed copies of 28 As Bilip to its pastors for a thorough review, marking the final stage before it reaches the wider congregation. The resource is regarded as a crucial tool to support spiritual growth and ensure that all members, regardless of their reading abilities, can understand the church’s teachings.

Pastor Lus highlighted the excitement within the mission, revealing that discussions are already underway to integrate 28 As Bilip with other nurturing and retention resources.

“This is a local resource that will strengthen our members and help them grow in their walk with God,” he said.

The Sepik Mission is confident that the study guide will be instrumental in supporting and retaining members, ensuring that the church’s teachings remain accessible to all. Once the review process is complete, the mission will proceed with full-scale distribution, bringing the long-awaited project to fruition.
