15 Feb 2025

Aitape, Sandaun Province - The Aitape Salalus Church witnessed a double ordination ceremony today, February 15th, as two members were called to leadership roles within the congregation. Pastor Jonah Huembi, Aitape District Director, presided over the ordination of Elder Andrew Wahu and Deaconess Judith Brimo.

Elder Wahu, who has served as a Deacon at Salalus Church since 2013, was elevated to the position of Elder. His journey to this role is a testament to faith and dedication. Previously a priest from another religion, Elder Wahu joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2007 through baptism. He acknowledged the weight of his new responsibility, expressing his reliance on divine guidance. Elder Wahu is a husband and father of ten.

Also ordained was Judith Brimo, who will serve as Deaconess. A participant in the PNG for Christ program, Deaconess Brimo’s commitment and faithfulness were recognized by the church, leading to her call to this important ministry. Originally from Wosera Gawi District in East Sepik, she is now married and resides in Aitape.

The Aitape Salalus Church community celebrated this significant occasion, marking a strengthening of its leadership and a continued commitment to serving the community.
