Eight Baptised, 63 Graduate in Keram Porapora ACS Federation Program

30 Apr 2025

KERAM PORAPORA – A total of eight new members were baptised and 63 women graduated from an adult literacy program during a week-long Adventist Church event held at the Keram Porapora District from April 21–26.

Despite having only two full-time workers — District Director Pastor Peter Tonny and Minister Arington Sandam — the program drew more than 400 attendees from surrounding churches. Nine hand churches, six branches, and five organised churches — Bagaram, Pokaram, Pusten, Buten, and Mungum — were represented at the camp.

Support also came from three VIA workers (Akrias Kamo, Ilai Jare, and Gilbert Ivo) and three local volunteers including Mark Dickson Mangaon and John.

Saturday’s program featured several key highlights, including Sabbath School led by ACS women, lesson discussions facilitated by pastors and ministers, and a special ordination prayer led by Pr Tonny for two deacons from Bagaram and one elder from Buten.

Divine service was conducted by Pastor Henry Monape, President of Sepik Mission. Following the service, eight individuals publicly declared their faith through water baptism. The baptism was jointly conducted by Pr Tonny and Pastor Michael Lus, Director of PMSS under the Sepik Mission.

That evening, the mission president led a fellowship program where baptismal certificates were officially handed to the new members. The church also acknowledged 63 women who completed adult literacy training under Mrs Virginia Tonny and Mrs Lucy Moke, with certificates presented by Pastors Lus and Tonny.

During the baptismal appeal, 75 people made public commitments to accept Jesus Christ and expressed interest in preparing for future baptism.

The event ended with a gift presentation to visiting leaders and the official closing of the ACS Federation Program by Pastor Monape.
