KERAM PORAPORA – Newly baptised members in Keram Porapora District are calling for audio Bibles and study guides to help them grow in their faith, following a week-long ACS Federation program that concluded on April 26.
The program, which drew over 400 participants, resulted in eight baptisms and the graduation of 63 women from an adult literacy initiative. Most of the newly baptised are non-literate and have requested spiritual resources in audio format.
Pastor Michael Lus, who serves as the Personal Ministry & Sabbath School Director under Sepik Mission, continued the distribution of discipleship and retention materials to churches across the district during the event. He said that while printed materials have been distributed, there is now a growing need for resources tailored for those who cannot read.
“Geographically, it is a bit challenging for us to deliver these spiritual aids,” Pastor Lus said. “I am thankful for the District Director, Pastor Peter Tonny, and the District Church Council for making this possible.”
He encouraged other districts within the Sepik Mission to consider similar arrangements to assist new and non-literate church members in remote areas.
With limited transport access and infrastructure, Keram Porapora remains one of the more difficult areas to reach within the Sepik region. Despite this, local leaders have continued to push forward with outreach, education, and discipleship efforts.
Plans are now underway to source and distribute audio Bibles and simplified study guides to help these new members remain strong in their faith.
