TURUBU, WEWAK – Sisida Adventist Primary School, located a few kilometers along the eastern coast of Wewak in the Turubu region of Sepik, is making significant progress in infrastructure and education, with the installation of a solar power system and the adoption of the newly approved Adventist Education Standard Uniform.
Head teacher Mr. Alfred Gai confirmed that the school is now fully powered by a 15-kilovolt-ampere (kVA) solar system, consisting of 24 panels (120W × 240W), ensuring uninterrupted electricity for classrooms and staff houses.
“Our four-in-one classroom is fully maintained and equipped with electricity, ceiling fans, and lighting that can operate 24/7 throughout the year,” Mr. Gai said. “This is a milestone for our school, and we thank God for His guidance in achieving our vision.”
Another major development is the implementation of the Adventist Education Standard Uniform for students, recently approved by the Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM). The school had placed an order late last year, and students are now proudly wearing the new attire.
“The education structure and curriculum are changing, so it is the right time for us to think about improving our schools,” Mr. Gai said. “As Adventist schools, we must strive to be the head and not the tail, shining for Jesus before His soon return.”
Sisida Adventist Primary was established in 2012, with Mr. Gai joining as a senior teacher in 2021 before taking on the role of head teacher. The school’s recent advancements have been made possible through the support of various stakeholders, including Dr. Dean Woruba, who facilitated the donation of the 15kVA solar power system.
“With God’s blessings and continued community support, we are determined to provide quality education in a well-equipped and spiritually uplifting environment,” Mr. Gai said.
The school community looks forward to resuming classes in Term 2, Week 1, after the break.
