WEWAK – The Sepik Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church headquarters held a workers’ orientation program yesterday for newly appointed administrators and departmental directors at the mission office on Wewak Hill in Wewak, East Sepik Province.
The program began at 10:00 am and brought together church leaders and staff to receive briefings on administrative responsibilities, workplace standards, and mission operations.
Leading the morning session was newly appointed Mission Secretary Charles Paul. Also present was Associate Chief Financial Officer Bilfred Kangei, who was appointed during the Papua New Guinea Union Mission Business Session last year.
The orientation covered key agenda items, including job descriptions, staff benefits, privileges, reporting structures, and operational expectations. Presenters outlined staff roles and accountability systems to help workers understand their duties and performance standards.
Mission Administrative Assistant Miss Natasha Jimbanau introduced the Sepik Mission team. She also explained office procedures, internal communication systems, and documentation processes to strengthen coordination among departments.
Mr Kangei later addressed financial policies, budgeting procedures, and accountability requirements. He urged staff to follow approved systems when managing church resources.
Mission President Henry Monape, who was reappointed at the recent Papua New Guinea Union Mission Business Session, attended the full program. He reiterated key administrative principles and spiritual leadership values before closing the meeting at 4:30 pm with prayer.
Directors present included Mr Melvin Hames, Education Director; Pastor Rayden Wanji, Youth Director; Pastor Graham Ovasui, Stewardship and Spirituality Promotion Ministries Director; and Minister Esseneth Toulik, Women and Children Ministries Director.
Also in attendance were staff from the Adventist Books Centre, Sepik SDA Health Services, Volunteer in Action Coordinator Minister Wilfred Nangu, treasury staff, and Communication Director Minister Joe Philip.
Absent from the orientation were newly appointed Stewardship Director Pastor Martin Sungu and Health Director Elder Daiven Watio.
Pastor Monape described the orientation as an important step toward strengthening administration, improving service delivery, and promoting unity among workers serving communities across the greater Sepik region.
