About the Department
The Communication Department of the Sepik Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is the official voice of the Mission across East Sepik Province and Sandaun Province (West Sepik), Papua New Guinea. The department manages all institutional media, news reporting, digital communications, broadcast partnerships, and community storytelling on behalf of the Mission leadership and its churches.
The department is strategically aligned with three major Mission initiatives: OneVoice27, Hope Radio, and Hope Channel TV Papua New Guinea, the backbone of the Mission's broadcast and digital ministry presence across both Provinces.

Our Mandate
The Communication Department operates under the following institutional mandate:
- Produce and distribute accurate, timely news about Mission activities across East Sepik and Sandaun Provinces.
- Manage all official Mission publications, including The Sepik Garamut newsletter and the Sepik Mission Weekly News Update broadcast.
- Maintain the Mission's digital presence across its website, social media platforms, and broadcast channels.
- Build the communication capacity of local churches through training, resources, and mentorship.
- Support denominational communication standards as set by the South Pacific Division and the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
- Facilitate Digital Discipleship Training to equip church members with skills in content creation, graphic design, video production, and AI tools.
Communication Services and Channels
The department provides the following services to the Sepik Mission and its member churches:
1. News Production and Publishing
The department produces news articles, press releases, and news-in-brief items covering church activities, evangelism, community development, health, education, and institutional updates across the Mission territory. All articles are written to a professional journalistic standard and published through The Sepik Garamut newsletter and submitted to The National newspaper for broader coverage.
2. Broadcast News Scripting
Weekly news scripts are produced for the Sepik Mission Weekly News Update, a broadcast programme reaching congregations and communities across East Sepik and Sandaun Provinces. The department manages editorial direction, scripting, and coordination with broadcast partners including Hope Radio.
3. Social Media Content
The department produces and manages content for the Mission's official social media accounts, including Facebook. Content includes event announcements, photo stories, video reels, worship resources, and institutional updates, all aligned with the Mission's brand identity and Seventh-day Adventist values.
4. Video Production
The department produces short-form and long-form video content for Facebook, Hope Channel TV Papua New Guinea, and internal use. This includes programme announcements, sermon highlights, event coverage, and Digital Discipleship training resources.
5. Digital Discipleship Training
The department facilitates the Mission's Digital Discipleship Training Programme, equipping church members and local communicators with practical skills in smartphone content creation, graphic design, video editing, institutional branding, and the responsible use of AI tools. Phase 1 was conducted at Kreer SDA Primary School, Wewak, from 6 to 10 April 2026.
6. Official Correspondence and Documentation
The department provides communication support for official Mission correspondence, institutional reports, training materials, forms, and formal documentation as required by Mission leadership.
7. The Sepik Garamut Newsletter
The Sepik Garamut is the official newsletter of the Sepik Mission. It covers ministry highlights, church news, pastoral updates, community stories, and institutional announcements from across the Mission territory. Churches and departments are encouraged to submit stories for inclusion in each edition.
