Sepik Mission Leaders Join National SDA Governance Orientation via Zoom

13 Mar 2026

CHURCH leaders from Sepik Mission were among participants who joined a nationwide governance orientation video conference hosted by the Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Thursday, connecting via Zoom from 9 AM through to 4 PM.

The full-day event, broadcast from the Adventist Church’s head office in Lae, drew participants from missions across the country. Presenters addressed a range of governance matters, including policies governing Executive Committees, Boards, and Advisories, as well as the Union’s strategic plan and key programs and priorities for the current quinquennium.

Key themes throughout the day included the role of executive committee members as trustees and critical friends of their organisations, the importance of delegated authority, meeting preparation, compliance, and the church’s broader pathway toward Union Conference status. Presenters emphasised that sound governance at every level — from local church boards to mission executive committees — is central to the church’s growth and institutional maturity.

The orientation forms part of PNGUM’s ongoing effort to strengthen governance capacity across its constituent missions and institutions ahead of its strategic goal to achieve Union Conference status by 2030.
