AITAPE: Sunday, August 17, 2025 – Local church treasurers and leaders in Aitape have undergone special training to strengthen financial reporting and accountability in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The program was conducted by District Director Pastor Jonah Huembi after recognising the need to support treasurers in their roles. The one-day session, held on Sunday, drew 12 participants from Aitape Town Church and Salalus Church, including treasurers, hand church leaders and other local leaders.
The training covered key areas such as:
• Proper use of tithe and monthly receipt books
• Timely submission of turnover to the Sepik Mission treasury
• Clear record-keeping without the use of correction fluid
• Accurate counting and reporting procedures
• Depositing tithe and offering into the Mission bank account and 13th Sabbath Offering into the Mission project account
Pastor Huembi said the session was interactive and aimed at equipping church treasurers with practical skills for their responsibilities.
“This training was more like a discussion to guide our treasurers in the right way,” he said. “We are happy with the turnout and expect to see better flow and reporting of tithe and offering in the coming months.”
Participants expressed appreciation for the session, saying it gave them confidence to carry out their duties.
