KOBURAN, Woginara Number 1 Village, Wewak Island District – The West Coast of the Wewak Island District is rejoicing as the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church successfully concluded a powerful, week-long evangelistic program in Koburan Village, located within Woginara Number 1 Village.
Running from October 19 to 25, 2025, this outreach is being hailed as a historic moment for the community, being the first-of-its-kind large-scale SDA evangelistic effort this current generation has witnessed. The last comparable program took place nearly 30 years ago, in 1996.
Divine Intervention and Commitment
The program saw a remarkable demonstration of faith and commitment. Local reports indicated that the people of Koburan had a "mas tru" (strong, undeniable urge) to attend and hear the Gospel message, with the gathering attracting both long-time residents and new individuals eager to learn.
A key highlight reinforcing the faith of the attendees was a powerful display of divine control over the elements. Despite a torrential downpour, the rain reportedly respected the boundaries of the meeting site. As one report stated, "Rain i bin pudaun, tasol God i holim ren, God i kontrolim ren" (The rain poured down, but stopped the rain, God controlled the rain). The heavy rain fell on the side areas, but the program arena remained dry, prompting attendees to proclaim that they were witnessing "big wonders" made by the Lord.
Leadership and Missionaries Unite
The nightly sermons were delivered by the main guest speaker, District Director Minister Francis Nima, whose spirit-filled messages deeply resonated with the audience.
Minister Nima was supported by a dedicated team, which included local church members and leaders from nearby Adventist churches, and volunteer missionaries Minister Issoh Waviengu and Minister Tonny Wanpis.
The overwhelming success in Koburan Village is a testament to the dedication of the Sepik Mission and signals a triumphant start to its evangelistic mandate for 2025, bringing renewed hope and spiritual revival to the Wewak Island District.
