A Baptism, a Proposal and a Mission Bearing Fruit in Kambot

05 Apr 2026

ON a recent Sabbath in Kambot, a young woman of around 20 years of age was baptised by Pastor Patrick Sapau at Bagaram. Before the day was over, Minister Akrias Kamo announced his intention to marry her.

Minister Kamo completed his training at the Omaraga School of Ministry in 2023 and 2024 and returned to Kambot in 2025, where he built a house and committed fully to the work. The young woman came to faith through that ministry.

A DECISION THAT STOOD OUT

Kambot is a community where the Catholic Church holds a strong presence. The Kambot church has grown to 67 families under Pastor Sapau’s ministry in the Keram area.

A BAPTISM AND A FORTHCOMING MARRIAGE

After the baptism at Bagaram, Minister Kamo and the young woman announced their intention to marry. Pastor Graham Ovasui will officiate at the mission office, with Pastor Sapau as witness.

Both are missionaries. Their union is a direct product of the work they share in Kambot.

Pastor Sapau summed it up simply: “The work is bearing fruit, and he’s marrying that girl. They are both missionaries.”

Pastor Sapau has worked in the Keram area since 2008. On this Sabbath, he baptised a young woman and watched her announce her forthcoming marriage to a fellow missionary.
