The International Border Ministry, a new initiative by the South Pacific Division and the Papua New Guinea Union Mission, is set to depart for Fiji to participate in a training orientation and regional union conferences. The team will collaborate with representatives from the Trans Pacific Union Mission, New Zealand, and Australia to strengthen partnerships between the Southern Asia Division and the South Pacific Division.
Led by Pastor Obed (Administration, Planning, and Strategy) and Minister Nelson Yanding Yawising (Coordination, Implementation, and Intercountry Liaison), the International Border Ministry team will focus on strategic planning and cross-border ministry efforts. The initiative aims to support churches along the Papua New Guinea-Indonesia border, a region marked by cultural diversity and logistical challenges.
The Border Ministry will work closely with missions sharing borders with Indonesia, including the Sepik Mission, Western Highlands Mission, and South West Papua Mission. These missions play a critical role in facilitating outreach and collaboration in the border regions.
Sepik Mission is proud to have one of its young and energetic workers, Minister Kimon Kaple, as part of the International Border Ministry team traveling to Fiji. Minister Kaple’s dedication and enthusiasm exemplify the mission’s commitment to advancing the gospel in challenging and remote areas.
Four field ministers—Standley Lucas, Kimon Kaple, John Marris, and Daniel Marisa—have been selected for deployment into the Republic of Indonesia. Their mission will involve community engagement, spiritual outreach, and supporting local churches.
The training in Fiji will equip the team with essential skills in cross-cultural communication, community development, and intercountry collaboration. The regional union conferences will provide a platform for sharing insights and best practices among participating divisions and missions.
Pastor Obed highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating, “This is a crucial step in our mission to reach every community with the message of hope. We are grateful for the support of our partners and look forward to fruitful collaboration.”
Minister Nelson Yanding Yawising added, “This training and these conferences are vital for the success of our ministry. We ask for prayers as we prepare to serve the communities along the PNG-Indonesia border.”
The team seeks prayers for safe travels, successful training, and the effective deployment of field ministers in Indonesia.
The International Border Ministry represents a significant effort to unite churches across borders and advance the gospel in the South Pacific and Southern Asia regions.
