Women Ministry Director Kicks Off Mission with Wewak District Retreat

09 Mar 2026

NEWLY appointed Women Ministry Director Minister Esseneth Toulik wasted no time in launching her mission activities, taking her vision directly to the local church level with a powerful weekend retreat hosted for Wewak district churches at Suanum village along the scenic Turubu coastline of Wewak in East Sepik Province.

The weekend gathering drew strong turnout, with 14 churches represented across the district. The program was also blessed by the presence of four ministers and the District Director for the East Coast Schouten Island district, Minister Brendon Dungral, whose participation underscored the broader significance of the event for women’s ministry across the region.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY OF PRAYER

The Sabbath program served as the spiritual centrepiece of the retreat, marking the International Women’s Day of Prayer in a setting of community, reflection, and faith. The message drew from the Gospel of Matthew 15:21–28, where the account of the Syrophoenician woman offered a profound biblical mirror for the women gathered.

This woman approached Jesus with humility, persistence, and a mother’s unwavering love for her suffering child. Despite initial barriers, she pressed forward in faith, and Jesus honoured her prayer. The story resonated deeply as a timeless reminder of what God-centred prayer looks like in the face of hardship.

For the women of Wewak district gathered at Suanum, the message was clear: pray boldly, trust God beyond every barrier, and never surrender when answers seem delayed. It is a charge that Minister Toulik has evidently made the cornerstone of her ministry leadership.
