Women and Children’s Ministry Leaders Complete Five-Day Training at Miko

04 Jun 2026

A FIVE-DAY Women’s Ministries and Children’s Ministries Leadership Training was held at Miko Seventh-day Adventist Church from June 1 to 5, 2026, equipping department leaders from the Central Region of Sepik Mission, including participants from Nuku and Lumi districts.

The training was organised by Sepik Mission’s Women and Children Ministries Director Minister Esseneth Toulik, who noted that while the program primarily targeted Women’s Ministries and Children’s Ministries leaders, church members with an interest in learning were also welcomed to attend. Sessions were facilitated by Mrs. Balagawi, Mrs. Moke and Minister Toulik.

Attendance across the five days was monitored through a checklist system to ensure faithful participation and identify those eligible for certification. A total of 45 participants demonstrated consistent attendance and active engagement throughout the training and are expected to receive their certificates at the upcoming weekend program.

PRACTICAL SESSIONS AND A NEW CURRICULUM

The children’s ministry class stood out for its practical demonstrations, with leaders showing what they had learned during the week. The training also introduced participants to the newly rolled-out “Alive in Jesus” Sabbath School curriculum, giving leaders an early and hands-on familiarity with the material they will take back to their local churches.

NIGHTLY MEETINGS: LEAD LIKE JESUS

Alongside the daytime training sessions, nightly evangelistic meetings were conducted by Miko Church Pastor Minister Moses Samgai under the theme “Lead Like Jesus.” The evening program gave the training week a spiritual dimension that ran in parallel with the practical skill-building of the day, ensuring participants left Miko equipped not only with knowledge but with renewed purpose.
